13C1   Complete articular fracture, simple articular and simple metaphyseal

Definition

This fracture type is classified by the AO/OTA as 13C1 when both the articular and the metaphyseal components are simple fractures.

The metaphyseal fracture may be:

  • Above the transcondylar axis (13C1.1)
  • Through or below the transcondylar axis (13C1.3)

All three sides of the triangle of stability are broken.
